About this tool
This generator creates a QR code from a link or free text, a Wi-Fi network or a contact card. Wi-Fi mode produces the format that Android and iOS cameras recognize to join a network without typing the password. Contact mode produces a vCard 3.0 with first name, last name, phone, email, company and website, ready to be saved to an address book.
You set the code and background colors, the error correction level (7, 15, 25 or 30%) and the output format: PNG or JPEG from 128 to 2048 pixels, or scalable SVG for print. The preview updates as you type, with a four-module margin around the code. A warning appears if the colors are too close to scan reliably.
How to use it
- Choose the content type: "Link or text", "Wi-Fi" or "Contact".
- Fill in the fields, for example "Network name (SSID)", "Security" and "Password" for Wi-Fi.
- Under "Appearance", set the "Code color", "Background color", "Error correction" and "Format".
- For PNG or JPEG, adjust the "Size (px)", check the "Preview", then click "Download".
Frequently asked questions
Which error correction level should I pick?
The higher it is, the better the code reads when damaged or partly hidden, but the denser it gets. Medium (15%) suits most uses; Maximum (30%) helps for printed material that may get worn or scratched.
How much text can a QR code hold?
It depends on the error correction level and the characters used, since text is encoded as UTF-8. Past the maximum capacity of a QR code, the tool shows "Content too long for a QR code"; lowering the error correction lets you fit more.
PNG, JPEG or SVG: which format should I download?
SVG is vector-based, so it stays sharp at any size, which makes it ideal for print or layout software. PNG and JPEG are images from 128 to 2048 pixels, handy for a website, an email or an office document.
Is my QR code content sent anywhere?
No. The code is computed in your browser with no network call. The content, such as a Wi-Fi password or contact details, is not saved; only the appearance settings are remembered for your next visit.
