About this tool

Lorem Ipsum is pseudo-Latin filler text used to populate a mockup, prototype or template before the real content is ready. It lets you judge layout, typography and how a component handles long or short text, without readers getting distracted by what the words say. This generator produces that text on demand.

Three formats are available: an exact number of words, always starting with “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet” and ending with a period; lines, with one sentence per line; or paragraphs of four different sentences separated by a blank line. You can request anywhere from 1 to 500. The output is plain text, ready to paste into your design tool or your code.

How to use it

  1. Under “Select type”, choose “Words”, “Lines” or “Paragraphs”.
  2. Enter an amount between 1 and 500 in the “Enter the count” field.
  3. Click “Generate Lorem Ipsum” and the text appears under “Result”.
  4. Click “Copy Lorem Ipsum” to put it on your clipboard, or “Reset” to start over.

Frequently asked questions

Is the word count exact?

Yes. In “Words” mode, the tool returns exactly the number you ask for, always following the same Latin source text, with a capitalized first word and a closing period. That makes it handy for testing length limits or truncation.

Do lines and paragraphs change each time?

Yes. Sentences are picked at random from a list of Latin sentences. Each paragraph combines four of them, all different and in random order. “Words” mode, on the other hand, always gives the same text for a given count.

Can I get the text as HTML?

No, the generator outputs plain text: lines are separated by line breaks and paragraphs by a blank line. If you need HTML, wrap each paragraph in a p tag yourself in your code.

Is the text generated on a server?

No. The text is generated in your browser with no network requests. The selected type and count are remembered in this browser so your settings are still there on your next visit.
